Weather can change quickly depending on where you are. Light Jacket – Because you just never know. Sunglasses are best paired with a hat on those really bright days. Sunglasses– This is a must, especially with the strong desert sun. A baseball hat should be fine but a bucket hat or sun hat could help keep the sun off your neck.

Hat– You’ll want some kind of hat to keep the sun out of your eyes. I like the Neutrogena a lot, but if you’ll be visiting a beach soon, you’ll want a reef-safe sunscreen. Sunscreen– If you plan on being outside, you’ll want sunscreen. A Hydro Flask will keep your water ice cold all day long. Water bottle– It’ll be hot and humid and you’ll need to stay hydrated.

Snacks – These are more important for long hikes, but you never know when you’ll get hungry! I like EPIC bars (kind of like beef jerky but different), Sahale nut mix things, and Moon Cheese. They’ll be good if you have bad knees for when you’re going downhill and will give you something to lean on going up the hills. Hiking poles– These will be helpful on longer hikes that are on the steeper side. What to bring to Rocky Fork State Park for hiking The water was really pretty, it wasn’t busy at all, and the hiking didn’t kill me. While we only spent two or three hours here, it’s definitely one of my favorite state parks I’ve been to so far. We lingered for some pictures before heading back since it was cold and getting late. Just past the cool log bridge, there was a little pond and a couple more little bridges. We passed over a couple of small wooden bridges then got to the coolest carved log bridge crossing Rocky Fork Creek or Flint Creek. The trail follows the Rocky Fork Creek and you pass a few waterfalls. With no or idea on what to do, we set off on the trail and followed the Rocky Fork Trail and part of the Flint Creek Trail until my hands were too cold and we had to turn around. We got to the park and saw a few other people there but I think they were getting ready to leave because we didn’t see anyone else until we were on our way out. The drive from Asheville to Rocky Fork State Park isn’t super long, but it is pretty. It was a little chilly the day we went, but it was still really nice. Well, I’m glad we weren’t able to go on it because I loved Rocky Fork State Park. The log bridge I mention below that I love? This is what was there on our visit in 2020 We were having a hard time deciding where to go because the Blue Ridge Parkway was closed for the government shutdown and most things we wanted to do were on the parkway. On our trip to Asheville this winter, we were trying to decide where to go on our last day and ended up at Rocky Fork State Park, about an hour from Asheville. Rocky Fork State Park is one of the newest state parks in Tennessee, one of the Tennessee state parks with waterfalls, and isn’t too far from the North Carolina border. Rocky Fork State Park in Tennessee was my next top on my state park quest and quickly became a favorite. Florida has some of the best state parks and I think that’s how this started. I’ve wanted to visit more state parks over the last few years, not just in Utah, but everywhere. If you purchase anything through them, I get a tiny commission at no extra cost to you.
